What is Curbside?
Areas considered curbside are the garage, driveway, front yard or any area that our truck can park within 10 feet of the material being picked up.
Do you provide moving services?
No. Our trucks are not properly equipped and we are not insured to move.
Does Fred's Junk Removal reuse and recycle?
Yes. We find new homes for any reusable furniture, electronics, clothing and home wares. We also recycle paper, metals, mattresses, appliances and various other materials, keeping as much as 70% of your junk out of landfills.
What is a truck load?
We used to use pick-up trucks and charged $99 for a truck load, now we use a 12 foot stake side truck that can handle 2-3 times the amount of material that even the largest pick-ups can handle. Here is an example from an actual job  we did.
How do you charge?
We charge by the item or by the load. Some folks have just a mattress or sofa that needs to be hauled away, others have an entire garage full of unwanted items. Our price list shows how we charge as low as $15 for an appliance or up to $200 for a 12 foot stake side truck load.
Can you give me an exact price over the phone?
Yes, for most items we have set prices and can give an exact cost quote over the phone. Sometimes folks call and they are unsure of how much material must be removed, in this case we quote a "ballpark" cost and then give a firm quote when arriving for the pick-up, there is no commitment, if you don't like the price we will thank you for considering our service and go on our way.
How much notice do you require?
In most instances we can be out to your location within a 1-48 hour time frame. If you are looking to get your junk removed on a specific day and time please call our office in advance to schedule ahead.
Why are appointments booked in three-hour windows?
To allow for unforeseen circumstances, such as traffic or jobs that were larger than expected, appointments are booked in three-hour slots. The truck driver will call 15 to 30 minutes before arrival to let you know exactly when they are on their way.
Do I have to be at the property to have the job done?
Not always. Provided we can access your materials and have a solid understanding as to what needs to be removed, we can make arraignments to pick up your items without your presence. More than half of our single item pick ups are done this way and our customers find it very convenient.
What Areas do you provide service?
Our usual service area is from the 56 freeway south and from La Mesa to the coast. You can see our service area map here.

If you are outside this area please feel free to call (619) 245-9957 because we usually schedule a day that we go outside our normal service areas.

As far as my flooring and walls are concerned - do I need to worry?
We often do not move large items from inside homes because we do not want to damage your property, some items can be moved from indoors without risk of property damage. Please discuss this when calling for information.
What do you do with the junk?
Over 70% of the material removed from homes and businesses is reused or recycled. The remaining material is disposed of at a landfill or transfer station for further processing.
